Up in the morning,
And out to school!

Are you ready?

School days are back; why not make everyday in school a great one. Make friends and fill each day with wonderful memories!

Choose to be active! Create opportunities for yourself and your friends that builds one fantastic memory after another!

Well applied time in school promises a great future. Set goals, small ones and then have one big one; keep it to yourself, until you see it happening. When you start hearing people tell you that someday you are going to be a... you are seeing your BIG goal becoming a reality.

Make the best use of your time. Don't be idle. A future well planned means having a well thought out schedule filled with constructive things to do. Be flexible, and all will work out well.

Read books about people who became what you want to be. Talk to people who are doing what you want to do; get their input on how best to achieve your dream!

Wisdom is getting a good's night rest, at least eight hours a night and eating well.

The other is to be active, always remember muscles have memory! If they don't get used, they forget how to work. Your future may require that you have good working muscles; the more you use them, the better they will perform!

Form an after school study group; fill your afternoons with activities that exercise your brain and makes you a good thinker.

Good friends can take turns reading out-loud. You may find one story that you and your friends would like to turn into a play; start planning your winter vacation. Turn a story into a play that you and your friends can perform during your winter holiday, your parents and their friends will love being your audience.

Do not wait on adults to motivate  you.
Be your own Director!
Set your own stage.

If you are not afraid to be silly, turn silly into fun and make it a part of your play, or add commercials.

Know that your grandparents and other seniors are great sources of ideas and suggestions. Suggestions can help make ideas become realities, so ask them. See if they don't have great suggestions on how you and your friends can put on a great play or do something you want to do!

Next weeks piece will include a lesson plan telling you how to go about putting on a great play! You will be able to use the information throughout your life, so don't miss it, sign on and start a future as a Director.

BE ACTIVE AND EXERCISE YOUR BRAIN EVERYDAY!
Here is a quick and easy meal to make when friends come over.

(Involve an adult before you begin!)

You will need:
  • Your favorite LARGE corn chips
  • Your favorite ground meat
  • Your favorite refried beans
  • Your favorite grated cheese
  • Your favorite sour cream and salsa for dipping
  • A frying pan and spatula
  • A cookie sheet (lined with foil for easy clean up).
  • A tablespoon

Young people should cook the meat with an adult's help!
(Remember to drain the fat), then mix your meat well with the refried beans.

Spoon some of the meat and bean mixture onto each chip, one after the other,
lining each up on your foiled cookie sheet; then top each with grated cheese.

Place the cookie sheet into an oven and heat using Broil; not long at all,
just long enough to melt the cheese, but not so long that you burn your cheese and chips.

Take out of the oven using well padded pot holders, let cool, and then share.

Make sure you have plenty of salsa and sour cream to go around!

Recently, I helped my uncle purchase a blanket on line.

At 93, with limited eye sight and hearing, the idea of going to many stores to find a replacement for his electric bed warming blanket, would have been a taunting task. Needless to say, he was tickled when he discovered the ease of making a purchase on line.

He sat in the coffee shop with me, as I used their wifi and my portable computer to track down a replacement. Then we placed the order, using his credit card.

He was concerned, but we were buying from Pennies (which had not one store remotely close to where he lived), so he was somewhat reassured that a big company, like Pennies, would have the right security in place protecting his credit card and identity. (and, I made sure no numbers were permanently recorded on my computer.)

Wasn't he thrilled when five days later, before leaving to fly north for a wedding, his blanket arrived. His reponse to it all was, "Amazing!"

You are invited to shop from these links. Your purchases will benefit the Chelsea Foundation's mission!
